JESSORE: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to visit Malopara, the victim of post-election violence, under Abhoynagar upazila of the district on Thursday afternoon.

Later the premier will address a rally to be organized by district Awami League at Shangkarpasha high school in the upazila around 3:00pm.

Hours after voting ended in January 5 elections, poll-resisters attacked Malopara in Abhoynagar upazila of Jessore where scores of houses were ransacked, looted and set on fire. The victims were mostly poor fishermen. The PM will visit the area and talk to the victims.

District administration and local Awami League completed all preparations to welcome the prime minister.

Inhabitants expect that Sheikh Hasina would declare Jessore as city corporation as per pledge given during her visit in 2012.
