DHAKA: Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury took oath as a member of the 10th parliament after she was elected unopposed in Rangpur-6 by-election on Wednesday morning.

Dr Shirin was administered oath by herself at Speaker’s office in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 10:45am.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, parliament secretary and senior officers attended the oath taking ceremony.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Election Commission published gazette notification declaring Dr Sharmin Chaudhury as an elected member of the parliament.
