DHAKA: A Dhaka speedy tribunal on Thursday handed life sentences to eight people for murdering two brothers in Galachipa village under Kaliakair in Gazipur.

The convicts were also fined TK 20,000 each and in default one more year imprisonment.

Dhaka-4 speedy trial tribunal judge ABM Nizamul Haque pronounced this judgment.

In the judgment, eight more people were given seven years imprisonment and fined Taka five thousand each and six months imprisonment in default.

The tribunal also acquitted five others as no evidence of their involvement could be found.

The accused, who got life sentence include, Nurul Islam, Nazrul Islam, Fazlul Haque, Rahmat Ali Shikdar, Hasen Ali, Hazrat Ali, Abdul Ali and Zakir Hossain.
