32 Bangladeshis stranded in Tunisia to be repatriated

At least 32 Bangladeshi nationals stranded in various cities across Tunisia are set to be repatriated, according to the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli.

In a statement issued on Tuesday (22 April), the embassy said it had confirmed the identities of the stranded individuals and issued travel documents in coordination with the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Outpasses for the 32 migrants have already been handed over to IOM Tunisia. A representative from the embassy has visited the Bangladeshis and assured them of assistance.

Repatriation efforts are underway, with 21 individuals expected to return home on Wednesday (April 23), the embassy said. Efforts are ongoing to facilitate the return of the remaining migrants "as soon as possible."

Meanwhile, the embassy provided legal assistance to two other Bangladeshi nationals detained in Janbuda city. The individuals appeared in court on 22 April, and officials are hopeful they will be released shortly.
