Police recovered the body of an unidentified young man from in front of the Shahbagh police box in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon.
Officers from Shahbagh Police Station brought the body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 2pm in a three-wheeler van, said Sub-Inspector Md Mithu of Shahbagh Police Station.
According to the police, the man was wearing a lungi and a black T-shirt. Witnesses reported that he was walking near the police box even during the rain. At one point, he collapsed and became unresponsive.
Sub-Inspector Mithu said a large old injury mark was visible on the man’s head, and insects had infested the wound. He suspected the man may have died due to illness but added that the exact cause of death would be confirmed after the post-mortem examination.
The Criminal Investigation Department’s forensic team has been informed. Investigators will try to confirm the man’s identity through fingerprint analysis.
