The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the prime suspect in the murder case of Prime Asia University student Zahidul Islam Parvez. 

The accused, Mehraj Islam, 19, was apprehended in Gaibandha on Wednesday afternoon (April 23).

According to RAB-13, Mehraj was detained around 3 pm during a raid at a relative’s residence in Bhabanipur village under Ramchandrapur union of Sadar upazila, following a tip-off. He had been hiding there after the murder.

Mehraj, a BBA student at Prime Asia University, is the son of Nurul Islam Sardar from the Banani area in Dhaka.

RAB officials confirmed that Mehraj is the main accused in the murder of Parvez, who was reportedly killed in a recent incident that sparked outrage among students and netizens alike. 

Following his arrest, Mehraj was taken to Dhaka under heavy security for further interrogation and legal procedures.

RAB said additional details would be provided by RAB-1 based in Uttara, which is overseeing the investigation.
