A banned Chhatra League leader was arrested in a case filed for raping a girl in Rangamati’s Kaukhali upazila.

He was detained on Wednesday (April 23) afternoon from Kadamrasul area under Sitakunda Police Station in Chattogram.

Fahim, 25, is the son of Anwar Hossain, member of Ward-1 in Poapara area of Kaukhali upazila.

According to the case filed by the victim on April 17 with Kaukhali Police Station, Fahim attempted to rape the young indigenous woman the same night at a rented house owned by his father in Poapara village. She alleged that he physically assaulted her when she tried to resist.

The complaint also states that Fahim raped her multiple times between March 25 and April 3.

Following the complaint, a case was filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

Kaukhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam Sohag confirmed the matter.
