Three killed in separate road crashes in Savar

Three people, including a woman, were killed in two separate road accidents on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Savar, police said on Monday.

In one incident early Monday morning, a long-distance bus operated by Nabil Paribahan lost control and struck a road divider near the Genda Bus Stand area.

Anwarul Islam, 26, the bus helper, fell from the vehicle during the crash and died at the scene, said Saugatul Alam, officer-in-charge of Savar Highway Police Station.

The bus, which had departed from Naogaon for Dhaka, has been seized by police. No passengers were reported injured.

In a separate accident late Sunday night, two pedestrians — Hridoy Chandra Das, 20, and Archana Rani, 30, both from Netrokona district — were killed when a private car hit them while they were crossing the road near Bank Town, also in Savar.

The private car fled immediately after the incident, but it was later seized, Alam told Banglanews.

He also said, "The bodies of the deceased have been recovered, and their families have been informed."

Highway police said further legal action will be taken following complaints from the victims’ relatives.
