Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that law enforcement must not only arrest drug couriers but also identify and capture the powerful ringleaders behind narcotics trafficking, which he warned is destroying the country’s future generations.
He made the remarks on Monday (July 14) while speaking as chair at a discussion on Rohingya influx, camp management, and drug control held at the BIAM Foundation Regional Centre auditorium in Cox’s Bazar.
The event was organised by the district administration.
The adviser said drugs entering Bangladesh through the Teknaf-Cox’s Bazar border are hampering families, society, and the state. Urging local residents, he said, unite and remain vigilant against narcotics.
“From now on, the top godfathers involved in narcotics will be identified and brought to justice,” he said.
He at this time also called on journalists and all citizens to cooperate in this effort.
