BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the government should have taken the decision to allow a humanitarian corridor for Myanmar's Rakhine state after discussions with all political parties.
He made the remarks on Monday (April 28) while speaking at a public event at Khagrabari Sheikh Bazar under Jagannathpur Union in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila.
Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain told reporters at his ministry on Sunday (April 27) that the United Nations had requested Bangladesh to allow a corridor to send humanitarian aid to the conflict-affected Rakhine state. Bangladesh has given a policy-level approval to allow a humanitarian corridor under UN supervision with certain conditions for Myanmar’s civilian population.
Referring to this, Fakhrul said, “We do not want to become another Gaza. We do not want to see another war. The decision regarding the humanitarian passage should have been taken after discussions with all political parties.”
