Bangladesh Railway will start selling advance train tickets for Eid-ul-Azha journeys from May 21, with return tickets available from May 30, Railways Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan said today after a meeting with stakeholders.
All tickets will be sold online, following the success of Eid-ul-Fitr sales. Five pairs of special trains will also be added to ease holiday travel.
Advance tickets for intercity trains on the western zone will be sold from 8am, and for the eastern zone from 2pm daily. A total of 33,315 seats will be available on 43 intercity trains from Dhaka.
Passengers can buy up to four tickets per user, and 25% standing tickets will be available at station counters. Weekly holidays of all intercity trains will be suspended from June 3 until Eid, which is expected on June 7 or 8, depending on moon sighting.
No intercity trains will run on Eid day; regular service resumes afterward.
