Polls likely in December, but not after June: CA

Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has indicated that the next national election may take place in December 2025, but no later than June 2026.

Speaking to The Economist, CA did not confirm whether he would participate in the election.

He said that the interim government has managed to stabilize inflation and the banking sector but acknowledged that economic growth remains weak and the political situation fragile.

Dr. Yunus mentioned that the National Consensus Commission will work with political parties to draft the "July Charter," which will pave the way for the election and contribute to building a "new Bangladesh".

Regarding the Awami League, Yunus noted that the Election Commission suspended the party’s registration on May 12, preventing it from contesting the upcoming polls.
