The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed 153 people into Bangladesh through different border points in Sylhet and Moulvibazar districts.
The push-in took place early Sunday (May 25) from dawn to morning, confirmed the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
As soon as they entered Bangladesh, BGB detained them from the border areas.
According to BGB sources, 32 people were pushed in through the Nayagram border of Beanibazar upazila in Sylhet. In Moulvibazar, 79 people were pushed in through the Shahbazpur border of Barlekha upazila, and 42 more through the Pallathal border.
BGB officials said the BSF used wetlands in Sylhet and dense jungles in Moulvibazar to push the individuals into Bangladesh.
Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Hasan, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-52 in Sylhet, confirmed the matter
He said that the identities of the detained individuals are being verified.
