Bangladesh Meteorological Department has advised four major sea ports to hoist local warning signal number 3 due to a steep pressure gradient over the North Bay of Bengal caused by active monsoon conditions.
Meteorologist Md Toriful Newaz Kabir said the monsoon winds have strengthened over the region, leading to increased atmospheric pressure differences.
"As a result, gusty or squally winds may sweep over the North Bay, the coastal areas, and nearby sea ports," he said.
The ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been instructed to hoist local cautionary signal No. 3.
Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay have been advised to stay close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
