Govt. okays oil purchase from Kuwait, the Philippines, Malaysia

DHAKA: The government on Thursday approved purchases of 12.54 lakh metric tonnes petroleum from Kuwait, the Philippines and Malaysia.


The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchases approved the decision with Finance Minister AMA Muhith in the chair, cabinet division Deputy Secretary Nur-ur-rahman said.


As part of the decision, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) will purchase 5.20 lakh metric tonnes disel and 1.40 lakh metric tonnes jet fuel from Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC).

The KPC will ship the fuel to Chittagong between July and December.

PNOC Exploration Corporation (PNOC) of the Philippines will supply 88 thousand metric tonnes diesel, 20 thousand metric tonnes kerosene and 12 thousand metric tonnes Octane.

PTCO of Malaysia will supply 3.70 lakh metric tones of diesel, 50 thousand metric tones kerosene, 30 thousand metric tones jet fuel and 24 thousand metric tones Octane.
