Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-14) arrested three individuals for allegedly gang-raping a garments worker in Nandail upazila of Mymensingh.

The arrestees are Md Shakil Mia, 23, Md Momin Uddin, 23, and Jahangir Alam, 24. All of them are residents of Nandail upazila. Following their arrest, they were handed over to Nandail Police Station.

RAB-14 Commander Md Naimul Hasan confirmed the matter at a press briefing held at the RAB-14 office in Mymensingh at 1pm on Thursday (August 7).

Mr. Hasan said on the night of July 18, accused Mamun, invited the victim to a restaurant. The victim was an employee of the local Magic Sweater Company. 

Later, Mamun took her to the Undail Kolabagan area, where he and three of his friends raped her, he said.

RAB Commander said following the incident victim's father filed a case at Nandail Police Station on 22 July. RAB subsequently conducted a shadow investigation and arrested the three accused from separate drives in Comilla Sadar and Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj areas.

The prime accused, Mamun Mia, is still on the run. Operations are ongoing to arrest him, the official added.
