BNP has suspended valiant freedom fighter Advocate Fazlur Rahman from all party posts for three months after receiving his reply to a show-cause notice unsatisfactory.
Fazlur Rahman is also BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Adviser.
A reliable party source confirmed the matter on Tuesday evening.
According to the suspension letter, a show-cause notice was issued against Fazlur Rahman on 24 August. Instead of submitting a written reply, he initially sought an extension of time. Following his request, the deadline was extended by 24 hours on Monday. However, the reply he submitted on Tuesday was deemed unsatisfactory.
The letter further stated that considering his contribution as a freedom fighter, the party refrained from taking stricter organisational measures and instead suspended all his posts, including primary membership, for three months.
It also instructed him to remain cautious in future while making statements in talk shows or on social media, advising him not to make any remarks that could undermine the country’s dignity, the party’s policies, or the religious sentiments of the people.
