NATORE: An octogenarian man was killed as a speeding bus knocked down him at Kandibhitua PTI crossing on the outskirts of the town Saturday morning.

Natore Sadar Thana Sub-Inspector Jalaluddin said a Bogra-bound BRTC bus knocked down Jalil Mandal, 80, of Diarbhita area of the town, at about 9:45am, leaving him dead on the spot.

Enraged by the accidents, blamed on reckless and inefficient driving, local people barricaded the road for 20 minutes, disrupting vehicular movement on the road.

Later, they removed the barricade on assurance of setting up a speed breaker on the crossing.
