DHAKA: Detained Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee was Monday taken on three days’ remand for grilling over the ‘attempt to murder’ Dhaka University Professor Dr. Humayun Azad.

Metropolitan Magistrate SK Tofael Hasan granted the remand when he was produced in the court, at the end of previous remand in another case.

A progressive writer and Bengali teacher of Dhaka University, Dr Azad was attacked and chopped with hatchet on February 27, 2004 outside Bangla Academy on the DU campus.

He later died on August 11 that year during his research work in Germany.
