KolkataÔÇÖs Chokh gives Bangabandhu Award

KOLKATA: A prestigious award introduced after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of independent Bangladesh, was given to three persons on behalf of ‘Chokh’, a Bengali magazine of Kolkata.

The award was handed over on Saturday afternoon at Bangla Academy auditorium in the West Bengal state capital.

Manik Dey, Editor of the little magazine `Chokh`, told banglanews24.com.bd that litterateur Profulla Roy of Kolkata, Tagore singer Dwijen Mukhopadhyaya and Abu Jafor Siddque, Managing Director of Bangladesh Television, were given Bangabandhu Award.

Manik Dey said, “A special award was given to Ranjit Mollick, former hero of Bengli film."

Besides, poet Anil Sarkar, Education Minister of Tripura state, was given Poet Anandashankar Roy Award.

The ‘Chokh’ has been giving the awards for last 15 years.
