DHAKA: State Minister for Law Advocate Kamrul Islam Sunday said Awami League MP Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon is an offender under the Arms Act.

A shot from the ruling-party lawmaker’s licensed pistol reportedly caused the death of his party colleague Ibrahim.

The minister said, "Nobody can keep another person`s licensed arms as per the law."

Kamrul Islam made the comment following the 21st meeting of the national committee for withdrawing ‘political harassment’ cases at the Home Ministry.
 
Replying to a question about the case he said, "The case is under investigation so there is no scope for making any comment about the case."

"Besides, the government and its agencies have no intention to influence the case," said the state minister for law and justice.  
   
He also said there should not be any apprehension about suffering of the plaintiff of the case.
