Fishes worth Tk 10 lakh looted in Habiganj; one held

HABIGANJ: Miscreants looted huge quantum of fishes, worth about Tk 10 lakh, from a fish enclosure in Madhabpur upazila on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway early Saturday.

Meanwhile, police held a man --Harinanda Das—while selling the looted fish at Kuliarchar bazar in neighbouring Kishoreganj district.

Madhabpur thana Sub-Inspector Syed Abdul Mannan said that a number of 30/40 miscreants, by a trawler, swooped on the fish enclosure of one Selim Chowdhury at the wee hours.

The miscreants severely beat up guards Moni Das, Abdul Haque, Monoranjan Dev and Shukur Mia. Later, the gang and tied up them and looted fishes.

The villagers recovered the security guards in the morning, police said.
