ECNEC endorses 4 development projects of Tk 1,189 crore

DHAKA: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) Tuesday endorsed four development projects involving Tk 1,189 crore, including a major one under which eleven new government secondary schools and six colleges will be established in the capital.

Of the total cost, Tk 355 crore will come as project aid and Tk 834 crore from government exchequer, officials said.

The approval came from an ECNEC meeting held in the NEC conference room with Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairman Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

The approved projects: Emergency Disaster Causality Rehabilitation Project -2007 (amended) and Surma Bridge Construction Project in Sunamganj (amended) under Communications Ministry, Establishment Project of 11 Government Secondary Schools and six govt colleges in the capital under Education Ministry and B M A Bangabandhu  Complex Construction Project, Bhatiary, Chittagong under Defense Ministry.

Finance Minister and also alternate Chairman of ECNEC Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Planning Minister Air Vice-Marshal (Retd.) A K Khandker, Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury, Labour and Employment Minister Eng. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Water Resources minister Ramesh Chandra Sen, Commerce Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan and Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain were among others present at the meeting.
