2 dacoits lynched in Laxmipur

LAXMIPUR: Two dacoits were shot by police and later beaten to death by angry mob at Kazirchar village under Raipur Upazila of the district early Thursday.

The identity of the dacoits could not be found immediately.

Witnesses said a gang of armed robbers entered in Sharif Hossain and Mizanur Rahman’s houses of the village at around 2:30am.

Noticing the dacoits, locals informed police. At one stage police and locals cordoned the gang of dacoits.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, dacoits opened fire randomly that forced police to fire back, leaving two dacoits injured and later angry locals beat them up to death.

During the firing, 15 people sustained bullet injuries.

Raipur police station Sub-inspector Abul Bashar confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Ward no.10 Raipur Union Parisad Chairman Yusuf told banglanews, “At least 15 people were injured as dacoits attacked them and admitted to Upazila Health Complex.”
