Youth dies from stab injuries at city hospital

DHAKA: A young man who sustained severe stab injuries in an attack by goons on May 28 succumbed to his wounds at Rashmono Hospital in the city early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Shahidul Islam Kajol, 24.

SI Dwin-e-Alam of Khilkhet thana said police patrols rescued Kajol from the Airport Road at about 3am on May 28 with critical stab injuries. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

He was later shifted to Rashmono Hospital where he died at around 1:30am Monday.

Investigating officer (IO) SI Mollah Khalid Hossain said Kajol was rescued with 19 injury marks in his body.

The victim’s father had filed an attempt-to-murder case with Khilkhet thana on May 29. “But police could not make any arrest in this connection,” said a police source.
