CHITTAGONG: Police arrested two people including son of Mufti Izharul Islam for their alleged involvement in the deadly explosion at the dormitory of a madrasa in port city’s Lalkhanbazar area.

The detainees are Harun Izharul, son of Mufti Izharul and one of his associate.

Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge AKM Mohiuddin Selim confirmed it to banglanews.

He said, “Acting on a tip off, a team of police conducted drive the residence of one Jalali Chowdhury at Ichhapur village under Hathazari upazila where they took shelter after explosion and picked them up at around 3:45am Wednesday.”

Earlier on Monday, a deadly explosion occurred in the dormitory of Jameyatul Ulum Al Islamia Madrasa in port city’s Lalkhanbazar area, leaving five students injured.

Later on Tuesday, Habib, 25, a student of the madrasa, who sustained blast injuries, succumbed to his injuries at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
