DHAKA: A couple got severely burnt after an explosion in gas supply pipe at a residence near Dania area at capital’s Jatrabari on early Wednesday.

The injured were identified as Monir Hussain, 25, and his wife Nazma, 19.

Sources said fire erupts through the apartment near Dania Nur Mosque area while Nazma setting a spark to lit a candle at their residence.

Critically injured duo was admitted to burn unit at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

DMCH burn unit doctor Ashraful Islam told banglanews, “The condition of Monir is critical. About 98 percent of Monir’s body and 47 percent of Nazma`s were burnt in the blaze.”
