FROM JATIYA SANGSAD: Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu on Wednesday urged owners of newspapers and media houses to implement the eighth wage board properly.
The information minister came up with the plea while addressing the Parliament in response to a query from lawmaker Moazzem Hossain Raton.
He said, “At present there are some 614 newspapers and news agencies in the country.”
The lawmaker also told the House: “The government has published gazette notification of the 8th wage board recently.”
Earlier government announced the seventh wage board but only 62 newspapers implemented it, the House was told.
Inu also threatened the owners that all facilities given by the government to the newspapers owners would be stopped if the eighth wage board is not implemented.
