GAZIPUR: Four policemen of Gazipur Metropolitan police outpost were suspended on the charge of extortion from vehicles in Mirer bazaar on Tongi-Ghorashal road.

The suspended cops are- Traffic police Assistant Sub-inspector Abul Kawsar, Constables Khairul Islam, Rustom Ali and Krisna Kumar.

Pubail Police outpost in-charge Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ali confirmed the matter to banglanews on Friday morning.

Locals said that being irritated by toll collection of policemen, victims requested Gazipur police super to take necessary steps against the involved.

Later, a team of plain dressed police found the evidence of toll collection by the policemen.

Gazipur Police Super Abdul Baten told banglanews, “After getting the evidence, those policemen were suspended temporarily.”
