DHAKA: Capital’s largest flyover Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover (Gulisthan-Jatrabari) is set to be opened for plying vehicles on Friday afternoon.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the flyover at around 3:10am on Gulisthan point.
As part the inauguration, plaque of flyover is to be unveiled at Kutubkhali toll plaza at around 3:50pm and to be offered ‘munajat’.
Later, the premier will observe toll collection activities at Kutubkhali toll plaza and visit the flyover at around 4:10pm.
Officials of Dhaka South City Corporation said the PM will address an inaugural ceremony of the flyover opening at Osmani Memorial Hall at 4:30pm.
After opening, the flyover, stretches from Dhaka-Chittagong highway (Kutubkhali) to Nimtoli through Jatrabari, Sayedabad, Kaptanbazar and Gulistan, will play a vital role to reduce traffic jam.
Orion group will manage the toll collection and maintenances, said Dhaka City Corporation (south) officials.
The capacity of the flyover is 200 ton and longevity is 100 year, and it will connect 30 districts.
The inaugural ceremony will be organised jointly by Orion Group and Dhaka City Corporation.
With Dhaka South City Corporation administrator Mohammad Nazmul Islam in the chair, will be attended, among others, by LGRD minister Syed Ashraful Islam, state minister for LGRD Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Mayor Hanif flyover project’s project director Md Ashikur Rahman, Orion Group chairman Mohammad Obaidul Karim and local government division secretary Abu Alam Mohammad Shaheed.
