Massive gridlock on Dhaka-Tangail highway

DHAKA: Thousands of homebound passengers got stuck on Dhaka-Tangail highway on Tuesday morning as a 50-km long tailback was created on the road due to heavy traffic.

The Communication minister Obaidul Qader, however, didn’t pick up his phone in this regard.

Sources said vehicular movement came to a complete halt in Mirzapur area on the highway due to heavy pressure of vehicles heading towards the northern part of the country with the homebound passengers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

Highway Additional Police Super (ASP) and Gazipur ASP have been trying to ease the gridlock and additional police have been deployed on the highway to tackle the situation.
