Tight security ahead of Mollah execution

DHAKA: Tight security measures were taken across the country along with capital Dhaka ahead of the execution of war crimes convict Quader Mollah on Tuesday.

Besides, additional police forces RAB personnel and BGB men were deployed in the capital to ensure law-and-order.

Law enforcers stopped vehicles movement in front of central jail and checking suspected men at Chakbazar, Bangsal and Nazim Uddin road, adjacent to the prison.

Besides, capital Dhaka, additional BGB personnel will be deployed all over the country from Tuesday midnight, said BGB Dhaka sector sources.

DMP Deputy Police Commissioner Anwar Hossian said police forces were asked to perform duty by wearing helmet and bullet proof jacket for extra security.

Earlier in the day, State Minister for Home Affairs Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku categorically said Jamaat leader Quader Mollah, convicted in war crimes cases, would be executed “tonight”.
