A Dhaka court today placed former Dhaka-7 lawmaker Solaiman Salim on a three-day remand in a case filed over the killing of college student Khalid Saifullah during the July–August mass uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiak passed the order after police produced Salim before the court and sought a seven-day remand.
According to the case statement, Khalid Hasan Saifullah, an HSC first-year student of Ideal College in Lalbagh Government Residential Area, was shot on July 18, 2024, while participating in an anti-discrimination student movement. He later died from his injuries.
Saifullah’s father, Kamrul Hasan, filed the case with Lalbagh Police Station on August 19, 2024, naming 52 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, as accused.
Salim, one of the accused in the case, was arrested from Dhaka’s Gulshan area on November 14 last year.
