BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir met with European Union (EU) Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael Miller on Wednesday (Oct 8) to discuss the country’s political climate, upcoming national elections, and the state of democracy and human rights.
The meeting took place around 11 am at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Dhaka’s Gulshan area.
Senior BNP leaders joined Fakhrul at the talks, including Standing Committee member and Chairperson’s Foreign Affairs Advisory Council member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, as well as Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, another key policy figure within the party.
BNP Organising Secretary and member of the party’s Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee, Shama Obaid, also attended the meeting.
Party sources said the discussions focused on the BNP’s long-standing demand for restoring democratic governance and ensuring a free, fair, and inclusive election under a neutral administration — issues the EU has consistently raised in its engagement with Bangladesh.
