Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Jubodal leader AKM Farid Uddin from Laxmipur has been expelled from the party following his arrest.
The decision was confirmed in a press release signed by central Jubodal Assistant Secretary Minhajul Islam Bhuiyan on Monday afternoon (August 11).
The statement said Farid was expelled from the party, including his primary membership, due to clear allegations of involvement in activities against party discipline. The decision was enforced by central Jubodal President Abdul Monayem Munna and General Secretary Mohammad Nurul Islam Noyon.
Abdul Alim Humayun, president of the district Jubodal, said Farid is a former joint convenor of the district unit. The central committee expelled him for breaching party discipline.
On August 10, at around 1:00 am, the army arrested Farid during a raid in Palerhat area of South Hamchadi Union in the district’s Sadar Upazila. The army said Farid has 14 cases against him, including murder charges.
