BOGRA: District police in several drives detained a total of 79 people, including 11 BNP-Jamaat men, from different areas of Bogra district.

Identities of the detainees could not be known immediately, sources told banglanews.

According to them, the drives were held between 6:00am of Friday and 6:00am of Saturday.

Confirming the matter, Bogra assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Gaziur Rahman said that most of the detainees are accused of drugs and smuggling cases.

“Among them, 31 were held from Sadar upazila, five from Shibganj, three from Sonatola, three from Gabtoli, five from Sariakandi, five from Dhunot, six from Sherpur, three from Nandigram, four from Adamdighi, each from Dupchachia and Kahalu, seven from Shajahanpur and five from other areas, he added.
