SYLHET: Law enforcers, in a drive, detained six Chhatra Shibir leaders with 2,000 books on extremist ideas from Sadar upazila of the district in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The detainees are Fatehpur Madrasa Shibir president M Shakib Ahmed, and sadar upazila unit office secretary Minhaj Uddin and four others.

Sub-Inspector of Jalalabad Thana Zakir Ahmed told banglanews that they detained six Chhatra Shibir leaders from a student’s mess at Kumargaon residential area of the upazila.

They also recovered a lot of anti-government posters and receipts for collecting subscriptions.
