DHAKA: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said the opposition BNP will have to provide evidence for their claim about the ownership of the recently launched Bangabandhu satellite.
BNP on Saturday alleged that the ownership of the country's first communication satellite, Bangabandhu-1, has gone to the hands of two persons.
In response to that allegation, Quader said BNP will have to pay a hefty price is they can not prove it.
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said it to reporters after paying tributes to Bangabandhu’s grave in Dhanmondi on Sunday afternoon (May 13).
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina and other senior leaders of AL paid tribute to Bangabandhu after the successful launch of Bangabandhu-1 satellite.
Quader said, “Bangladesh and its 16 crore people are the owners of the satellite. We also consider BNP within it. But why is BNP saying only twp persons are the owners? They have prove it otherwise there will be consequences.”
Terming the launch of the satellite as a great success for the country, he said it will be very useful for people in the broadcasting business as we don’t have to spend money hiring others’ satellite. Now we are independent and it is a historic achievement for us.
