Jamaat-e-Islami Naib-e-Ameer Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher today said that his party supports holding elections in February and is preparing for the polls scheduled for February 15.
Speaking as the chief guest at Jamaat’s ‘Election Responsibility Rally’ in Kalirbazar Union of Chauddagram Upazila, he said, “The interim government had committed to maintaining neutrality, implementing reforms, ensuring visible justice, and conducting elections.”
However, Taher emphasized that several issues must be resolved to ensure a free and fair election. He stressed that the July Charter must be given legal recognition and the February polls should be held on its basis.
Jamaat Central Majlish-e Shura member Abdus Sattar, Comilla South District Jamaat Amir Mohammad Shahjahan, Upazila Jamaat Secretary Belal Hossain, Assistant Secretary Abdur Rahim, and Kalikapur Union Jamaat Amir Abul Hashem were also present at the rally.
