DHAKA: BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi termed the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) polls ‘nothing but the ‘illegal government’s practice of ‘illegal power’’.
On behalf of his party, Rizvi rejected the results of KCC polls and sought the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) to be resigned.
He briefed the reporters at BNP’s Nayapaltan central party office Wednesday (May 16).
As the voting ended, the CEC hasn’t appeared before the media from hesitation, said Rizvi.
Terming the voting to KCC elections a ‘festival of vote robbery’, he said that the Election Commission (EC) has no inclination, ability and efficiency to hold a free, fair and non-biased election.
“Wind doesn’t favor the Awami League flag without vote robbery, vote terrorism, fake vote, occupying polling center and brandishing illegal arms,” Rizvi said further.
BNP Vice-Chairman Dr AZM Jahid Hossain, Adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia Abdus Salam, Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habibul Islam Habib and Taiful Islam Tipu, among others, attended the press briefing.
However, Awami League candidate Talukder Abdul Khaleque defeated his archrival BNP candidate Nazrul Islam Monju, to become the KCC mayor, in the elections held on Tuesday (May 15).
