KCC polls free, fair: Quader Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader

DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said Khulna City Corporation (KCC) polls were free and fair except one or two separate incidents.

Obaidul Quader, also, the Road Transport and Bridges Minister said, “The voters, who rejected the candidates in this election, will also reject them in upcoming national election.”

Obaidul Quader was addressing a reception program organized for GPP-5 holders of PEC and JSC examinations at Manipur High School and College in Mirpur area of the city on Wednesday (May 16).

Obaidul Quader said,” Everyone, excluding BNP, has accepted this election. BNP’s job is to cancel elections after organizing press conference, and complain to foreigners. BNP has nothing to do without this. They (BNP) only agree if things go for them, but disagree if things go against them.”

Speaking about BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s bail, he said “This bail testifies to the fact that court is an independent body. The government does not interfere in affairs of court. Bangladesh judiciary division is independent.” 

Addressing to students, he said “I wouldn’t urge you to do politics of Awami League, rather I urge you to refrain yourselves from drugs, corruption, militancy and yaba.”

As regards the launch of satellite Bangabandhu-1, he said we are going to get result within three months. We will save money while at the same time receiving foreign currency, the minister said.
