DHAKA: A Dhaka court directed the state side to initiate necessary steps, so that BNP chief Khaleda Zia can be shown arrested in two cases filed over patronizing the war crimes accused and celebrating a fake birthday.
On Thursday (April 25), Dhaka Metropolitan magistrates Khurshid Alam and Ahsan Habib of the special court installed on Alia Madrasha ground in Bakshibazar area of old parts of Dhaka passed the order.
Khaleda Zia’s lawyer Advocate Masud Ahmed Talukder pleaded bail for her, after showing her arrested in the two cases.
Dhaka Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Advocate Abdullah Abu opposed the plea.
Afterwards, Magistrate Khurshid Alam and Magistrate Ahsan Habib came up with the directives.
The court also fixed July 5 for the next hearing, regarding this.
BNP made some persons, who opposed the liberation of Bangladesh, ministers and members of parliament (MPs) while forming the cabinet after assuming in power in 2001, said an investigation report submitted by Tejgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC, Investigation) ABM Moshiur Rahman.
Afterwards, International Crime Tribunal (ICT) convicted them with various forms of sentences including death penalty.
As per the statement of another case, the BNP Chairperson celebrates her birthday on August 15 which is the date of assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. But, no information was found about Khaleda’s specific birth date as four different dates came out after running investigation into the matter.
