DHAKA: The High Court has granted six months of bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's Special Assistant Shimul Biswas in two sabotage cases.
The HC bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Md Kurshid Alom Sarkar delivered the verdict on Monday (May 21).
Barrister Sanjid Siddiqi stood for Shimul Biswas.
Police, being the plaintiff, filed two cases on charges of sabotage with Paltan and Mugda police stations in 2015. However, he (Shimul Biswas) will not be released from jail as he is accused in other cases, said Barrister Sanjid Siddiqi.
Shimul Biswas was detained from the court premises following the verdict of Zia Orphanage Trust graft case in which BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was given 5 years’ imprisonment.
Since then, he has been in jail.
