FENI: Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said the government has full confidence in Indian Prime Minister Naredra Modi’s assurance on Teesta Water deal.
Bangladesh has developed very good diplomatic ties with neighboring India which will ultimately pay back in country’s development, he added.
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, made the remarks to reporters after attending a view-exchange discussion on highway traffic congestion at Feni circuit house on Sunday noon (May 27).
During the meeting, Quader said construction works such as digging on highways are banned 10 days before and five days after the Eid-al Azha. All heavy vehicles are banned on highways 3 days prior to Eid.
The minister also warned transport owners not to run vehicle without fitness because it may break down on the road creating traffic chaos.
Quader also directed law enforcers to force traffics to move as per traffic law. On the issue of toll plazas, he said the system of collecting tolls is outdated and need to update for faster vehicular movement on highways.
