DHAKA: The High court has fixed Monday (May 28) to deliver the bail order on petitions filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in three separate cases lodged against her in Cumilla and Narail.
The HC bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice JBM Hasan fixed the date on Sunday (May 27) after concluding hearing the three petitions.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam moved for the state while lawyers Khandker Mahbub Hossain, AJ Mohammad Ali, Zainul Abedin, Mahbub Uddin Khokan moved for the petitions in court.
Two cases were filed against Khaleda Zia under Special Powers Act in Cumilla and another libel case was filed against her in Narail.
Earlier on May 20, Khaleda’s lawyers filed 3 separate bail petitions with the HC.
However, on February 8, a Dhaka court sentenced five years imprisonment to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia orphanage Trust graft case. She was sent to Dhaka central jail following the verdict.
