DHAKA: The High Court granted bail to BNP chief Khaleda Zia for six months in two sabotage cases filed in Cumilla.
According to HC order, Khaleda Zia did not get bail in Narail defamation suit as it had not been placed before it.
The HC bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice JBM Hassan issued the order on Monday (MAY 28).
Earlier, the hearing in the three cases ended on Sunday (May 27). Attorney General Mahbube Alam and Deputy Attorney Generals Dr Md Bashir Ullah and AKM Daudur Rahman Mina represented the state at the hearing.
Lawyers Khandakar Mahbub Hossain, AJ Mohammed Ali, Joynul Abedin and Mahbub Uddin Khokon moved for Khaleda Zia.
Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, who has been imprisoned now, may not be released through the bail orders as she is being shown arrested in some other cases.
