DHAKA: Expressing deep concern over the killings of people in alleged shootouts during the ongoing nationwide anti-narcotics drive, BNP vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman said such extrajudicial killings are not acceptable in a civilized society.
Noman also demanded for Supreme Court’s appellate division or equivalent judicial inquiry committee on the extrajudicial killings.
He made the demand at a meeting in the Press Club conference lounge on Monday noon (June 4).
The meeting was arranged on the occasion of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman’s 37th death anniversary.
Noman said, “One-party-rule is prevailing in the country. Some fundamental matters have been excluded from constitution. We believe a nonpartisan neutral government is necessary now for a fair election.”
He also said people of the country will unite and resist as done before if the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina plan to hold a lopsided general election.
