CHANDPUR: Central Committee member of Awami League’s women wing also Principal of Faridganj Gollak Ideal Degree College Shahina Sultana was found dead at her residence in Chandpur town Monday night (June 4).

Shahina Sultana, 57, also the former Vice President of Chandpur Govt Women College.  

Advocate Zahirul Islam, husband of the deceased, is the senior joint secretary of Chandpur district unit Awami League and former president of Chandpur district bar council.

Forkan, a brother of the deceased, told Banglanews that he found the blood tainted body on the floor around 10pm. Her head had injury marks and several parts of the body were blood-stained.  

Zahirul married another woman several years ago. Her name is Julekha. He used to torture Shahina physically since the second marriage, said Nayeem, another brother of the deceased. 

Chandpur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Wali Ullah Oli told Banglanews that the woman might have died from hitting the head violently.

Who is/are involved in the incident couldn’t be known yet.

Zahirul has been taken in the custody, for interrogation, added the OC.
