DHAKA: BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the upcoming national budget for the Fiscal Year 2018-19 the government is planning for won’t bring any welfare to the people.
“None can expect a public welfare-oriented budget from an ‘anti-people government’. It makes no sense expecting a public welfare-oriented and public-friendly budget from them as they are a government opponent to the people,” he said.
He also criticized Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith for the latter’s recent remarks claiming not increasing the prices of commodities over last ten years.
Rizvi also cited a report published in Indian Bangla daily Anandabazar and said about the probable influence of India in the upcoming national parliamentary polls.
Rizvi was addressing a press briefing at Nayapaltan central party office.
However, BNP Vice Chairman Ahmed Azam Khan, Showkat Mahmud, Member of advisory council to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia Abul Khair Bhuiyan, Central leader Mir Sharafat Ali Shapu, Belal Ahmed and Samsuzzman Suruj, among others, were present.
