DHAKA: The High Court has granted anticipatory bail to BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury in two separate cases filed over sabotage and spreading rumors during students’ movement for safe roads.
The HC bench of Md Abdul Hafiz and Bhishmadev Chakrabarti granted the bail on Monday (August 27) following Khasru’s bail petition.
Senior lawyers Khandakar Mahbub, AJ Mohammad Ali, Joynul Abedin moved for the petition while deputy attorney general Sheikh AKM Moniruzzaman Kabir moved for the state in court.
Later, Moniruzzaman Kabir told reporters that court granted seven weeks bail to Khasru in case filed in Dhaka and six weeks bail in a case filed in Chattogram.
The cases were filed on August 4 and 5 with Katwali police station in Chattogram and in Dhaka respectively.
